I bough this book after reading all the positive review. I am not sure if I have read the same book that other reviewers have read. Take Chapter 9, face detection for example, it has two pages of info. But there are no steps on how to program face detection and only general info on opencv and raspi-config to enable the camera. There is no source code listing for face detection at all.Other topics are covered very superficially that you can get more from free mag magazine.This is first review after buying hundred of books on Amazon. Skip this one!

I have read three starter books for raspberry PI. This one was the most informative with the operating systems and configurations as well as good clear step by step instructions for all sections

Some projects to look forward to for noobs like me. The ideas are cool and anyone can do them. It takes time though to master. I would suggest reading advance projects to enhance your own learning until you can devise a project of your own. I got used to the cross-compilation and the client-side scripting codes. Let's me build a smart TV in the end. The face detection idea is cool. There's more to it though. I didn't know I can install Kodi on it until I read about it. It's cool! It needs further details though. Would want to see more details on each project.

I loved this book! It is lyrical and beautiful. The art is stunning. This book moves you and is a wonderful celebration of love!

As an adoptive mom and author in adoption I give this book my full approval. I snuggled up with my 6-year old daughter and turned the pages of this beautifully written and gorgeously illustrated book. The last page brought tears to my eyes. Definitely a heart warmer!! It will be a mainstay on our bookshelf for years to come! Great gift for hopeful adoptive parents!!

All I ever wanted in life was to be a mommy. It was my dream since I was a little girl. But I was recently given the most devastating news that I may never be able to have children. The news threw me into a deep depression and I've been struggling to cope with the grief. Then by pure coincidence I had Dr. Oz on in the background when this book was featured. Her story really inspired me. I had to get this book. The book is so beautiful, both visually and lyrically. I have placed it where I can see it at all times to give me hope that I will be a mommy someday- that "you and me" will become a "we", and I will be able to read it to my beautiful child. I can't wait for that day. This book will be my first gift to them.

We are fostering to adopt 4 and 5 year olds and it is so incredibly hard to find books that we can read to them to that speak about how they came to us in a general but big picture way. Many books are specifically about infants or overtly from a mom's point of view but this one is so simple and so general yet poignant. It came yesterday and I can't wait to read it to the boys!

Cute one line per page story with beautiful illustrations however with only a few words per page, it just doesn’t have enough story for my 6 yr old to want to hear more than once.

I cry every time I read this. I am an adoptive mother of a son and about to be a mother-in-law. This book also applies to having loved her since forever also. This book is a great gift for anyone you love. Also, Kelly Clarkson's song that goes with it will touch your heart.

Sweet book. Bought for my daughter-in-law to read to my Granddaughter. She's not adopted, but took a long time coming! I would highly recommend. Some complain that there's not a lot of words, and there aren't. Just enough to make you want to cry!

Two stars. Three or four stars for content, zero for physical construction.This so-called field guide fell apart the instant I touched it. The cover completely detached from the glued spine, the pages cracked open in dead center, and the book is now in two pieces that are barely held together. Seriously, Adventure Publications? I expect a field guide to be sturdy enough to use (surprise) in the field, which to me means being jostled in a backpack, stuffed in a pocket, and not treated as a breakable object. This one couldn't stand up to being gently opened even once. I do not trust the construction enough to order a replacement. Zero stars here.That said, if the book were well-made, I probably would have kept it. The small size is great for a field guide, and I think the descriptions and most photos would be helfpful in identifying species I do not know already. The photography is decent overall, but some photos are out of focus or taken in light conditions that washed out flower colors so they do not appear true-to-life. I have seen and taken many amateur photos of much higher quality. I do appreciate guides that are organized by flower color, and I give this one high marks for that.There are many excellent field guides to Texas wildflowers. I have carried some of them all over Texas for 15-20 years, but it's hard to resist new offerings. I suggest you consider a different choice.

While this guide is far from all-inclusive (Texas has a lot of wildflowers), it seems to cover the most common and frequently seen ones. I appreciate the fact that it is organized by color. The whole point of a field guide is to enable identification, and guides that are organized by botanical family make the process considerably more difficult. If I know the family, I don't need the guide. The photographs are large enough to show some detail of the leaves and stems, which also is helpful. For anyone who enjoys our state's wildflowers and is curious about what he or she is seeing, this little book can be very helpful.

I have most of the Texas wildflower books and really like this one. Small enough to take along on trips, nice quick reference, and it has most of the wildflowers in and around the state, including some non-natives which grow wild here and there. The flowers are in color groups which makes it easy to find what I'm looking for. Very pleased with it!

Love the classification by color and the large pictures. This is an easy to use field guide I use along with Loughmiller's Texas Wildflowers & more often than not I find exactly what I was looking for.

I have no problem with the content of the book. It is well organized. However the binding of the paperback book is so poor that the book will be in tatters as the pages loosen and fall apart. I would not buy the paperback.

Roger Crowley was born in 1951 and spent part of his childhood in Malta. A description of the century-long naval struggle for control of the Mediterranean between the Ottoman Turks and the West, focusing on 4 major areas, the sieges of Rhodes, Cyprus, and Malta, and the great battle of Lepanto. Many other reviewers criticized this work as providing incomplete descriptions of some very complex military conflicts, but for me the depth of this work was exactly right. Although I have read a great deal of military and naval history, I am not one for recreating the movement of every ship or every battalion. I suppose you could write a whole book, for example, on the siege of Malta, but that's not what the author intends. His idea is to lay out the motivations of the Turks and the struggles of the West--primarily the papacy, the Venetians, Philip II of Spain, and the Knights of Malta to try to bury their many differences to confront the seemingly inevitable thrust of the Ottoman empire.Crowley's narrative sweeps the reader along, describing not only the conflicts but the people behind them and their motivations. The savagery of the fighting is examined in detail, a level of violence and barbarity (on both sides) that will shock modern readers. It's one of the most gripping and comprehensive descriptions of a century-long conflict that I have read.I would award this book only 4 stars, however. The maps (in the Kindle version, anyway) were unreadable, split between pages and undecipherable when expanded. Although the author doesn't seek to delve into enormous detail in terms of military hardware, I found it difficult to understand how galleys functioned and how they were used in battle. The fleets involved also consisted of galleases, galliots, and many other craft which were not explained. I had to study my faithful Wikipedia to gain some insight as to the strengths, weaknesses and uses of all these craft. The author would have been better advised to concentrate some effort here, as it's really not possible to understand naval strategy without some idea of the limitations that were imposed on battle plans by the technology of the era.

I asked LtCol Tom Kratman, USA (Ret.), the author of excellent military science fiction, for a recommendation for a high school graduation gift for a nephew of my wife who is joining the Army. (My fault, I think; the last time I saw the lad he was about 10 and I showed him the manual of arms with a training rifle.) The book looked so good, I bought a copy for myself. It is excellent history. I knew, of course, about the siege of Malta and Lepanto, but this filled in all the details. The author writes, "The idea of conquest was central to the Sultanate, intricately interwoven with it's holder's position as leader of the Muslim world. ... Only spectacular conquests could legitimize a sultan." The battle of Lepanto, the most decisive sea battle between Salamis and Trafalgar, ended the efforts of the Muslim Ottomans to conquer Europe and capture Rome, though they rebuilt their lost fleet. I was interested to learn that the commander of the Holy League, Catholic King Philip II of Spain's illegitimate half brother Don Juan, was only 22. Philip had ordered him not to fight to preserve the fleet, but he was eager for battle and glory. Some interesting notes: One of the fleet's Spanish arquebusiers was Maria la Bailadora, a flamenco dancer, disguised as a man to stay with her lover. The writer Cervantes, then 24, was there as a volunteer and was wounded in the battle. 25,000 Muslims died as did 15,000 Christians, but 12,000 Christian galley slaves were freed. (Both sides depended on slaves, often but not always of the opposite religion, to power their fleets. Raids by Muslim pirates/slave catchers were one of the causes of the conflict.) The author writes that, "Not until Loos in 1915 would this rate of slaughter be surpassed." I highly recommend this well researched and balanced history.

Roger Crowley has written a string of books about the six-hundred year conflict between the Ottoman Empire and Christendom. His focus is chiefly on the earlier part of that history, from the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople (modern Istanbul) in the mid 15th Century to the middle European Renaissance. "Empires of the Sea" focuses on the war that raged in the Mediterranean from the 1520s to the Christian victory at Lepanto in 1571. It takes in the epic siege of Malta in 1565 and details the financial and strategic circumstances that drove most of the decision-making on both sides. As history it is sound, both detailed and well referenced. As literature, it is a well-written story of earth-shaking events on a huge scale, and at the same time it descends into the trenches of Fort St Elmo and the oar-benches of the naval galleys to give us the view of the "other" ranks. Uncompromisingly gritty and even-handed, it is very good history indeed.

This book is essential reading for anyone trying to understand late 16c European history, the Siege of Malta in 1565 and the naval Battle of Lepanto in 1571. The narration is engaging and captures the personalities and geopolitics as well as the brutality and suffering of the times. The author occasionally uses unfamiliar English words like ‘mizzle' (a mix of drizzle and fog) and ‘debouch’ (a march out of a confined space), so I recommend the Kindle edition which allows for easy lookup of word definitions.

The author quickly succeeds in engaging the reader in a fascinating narrative of a too-forgotten series of military and political conflicts, intrigues and courageous defenses and assaults within the Mediterranean arena between the more-unified Turkish Islamic juggernaut and a deeply-divided Christian Europe. The vivid desciptions illuminate a time of naval confrontation where slave-rowed galleys serve as platforms for heavy cannon on all sides, and Ottoman naval skill and tecnical expertise compete with, and frequently dominates anything that western Europe could float.

- First: Don't buy at full price. Some Amazon marketplace sellers are selling this as low as $9. I was expecting disappointment based on the low-balled price, but I was wrong!- Second: Don't confuse this with TSR AD&D 1st Ed Unearthed Arcana or Sword & Sorcery Arcana Unearthed. Both cool books.- Third: Don't read the Amazon description. It makes you think this book is all about strongholds for some reason...- A minor annoyance is that WOTC already have a DMG2 released and a Player's Handbook 2 planned, and the material herein would be better placed/organized into a larger 500+ page Player's Handbook and larger 500+ page DMG respectively or just merge all these things entirely. Monte Cook did it with a huge Arcana Evolved. Why can't WOTC do this? Why all the individual books (this one is barely 200+ pages)? It's stupid to flip through 100 different books to see all the different classes and races available, make 1 race book, 1 class book and so on...Everyone else is doing it (Moongoose, Green Ronin) but WOTC. I think Hasbro has enough money.- Its variants, house rules, and draws from a variety of sources and influences old and new as others have suggested. You have race variants (desert elf, aquatic gnome, etc. not terribly exciting), class variants (new paladins, etc., cool), Gestalt classes vs. multi-classes (nice), many "Bloodline" race-types (a succubus mates with a human creating a human with some demon bonuses - very interesting), Character traits and flaws, item familiars (very cool), insanity (which goes back to the original AD&D DMG 1st Ed), Rep and Honor (goes back to original AD&D Oriental Adventures 1st ED), Spell points instead of Spell memorization (fire and forget method) (many people use this spell pt house rule), the racial Paragon (sort of like a Prestige Race). On and on. Very neat stuff...Criticism that this book has contradictory rules or not-well-thought-out cohesiveness is missing the point. I like this book more than the regular DMG or PHB.

Ok, its time to start a new campaign and I've played everything there is to play (aside from the myriad of prestige classes that don't interest me). What am I going to play you ask yourself for hours. If you have ever had this problem, like me, probably because you've been playing D&D for far too long, this book is your savior, plain and simple.Back in second edition there was a game called Player's Option, if you recall, and it gave you a good deal of freedom to customize your character. This book goes well beyond that. Its actually quite interesting. There are little tweaks for all sorts of races due to climate or elementally based races. Follow this up with a lot of variants for classes which are basically swapping a few things in and out in most cases, sometimes losing a trait from one class and gaining another, while some are new. In my opinion, this adds a lot more depth to the game because if you do want to play one of the 10,000 prestige classes, it gives you more than one avenue to get to them. If you do not like prestige classes, then this gives you more options than the dozen or so base classes that currently exist. I would particularly recommend this if you're fond of playing Specialist Wizards (in which case this is a MUST), Barbarians, Monks, or have ever wanted to see a quality representation of an "Anti-paladin." This may be the section of the book you most commonly use, and that would be mostly at character creation.There are some feats, which are so-so on the usefulness scale but are just so very interesting and characterful. Then, traits to make your character more attuned to how you envision his personality, and flaws to give him special vulnerabilities (and of course there is a benefit to them as well). Its an interesting section to say the least but after that you get into some very wild and, indeed, very fun options, including a variant on weapon proficiency based on weapon groups, variants on armor systems, D&D without levels, and even D&D without hit-points. All I can say is, despite how crazy that sounds, someone obviously put a good deal of thought into it since it is at least mostly viable.Basically, if you're bored with D&D sometimes, this book is curry powder. It would DEFINITELY spice things up again.

this book is easily my favorite 3.5 book to own. it keeps the game fresh and offers modifications to some of less popular rules, or rules that some may think werent completely developed properly. adds in the addition of character flaws with the reward of more feats, get rid of spell slots for a more mana/MP type of casting, even class variants like fighters with sneak attack instead of bonus feats. the book keeps games fresh when you run out of official content to use and dont like most of the homebrew content. i would recommend this to ALL 3.5 players, even new players that havent explored all the regular official content

Good reading for those considering tinkering with the D&D 3.5 system. It presents some very interesting alternatives to give your game a different feel. The good news is that they are fairly thought out. Many of the "house" rules are extensively tested and they include information on the second and third order effects for the proposed changes. Generally, it convinced me to just leave the existing system alone for my games, but it's always there.I wouldn't buy if you're a player, much more of a DM resource. However, if you have a very flexible DM that likes external ideas, it might be worth a look.

A rules variants book. If you want to try changing rules to suit your need, it's a good book. I found very limited use for this book, though.

The first part of a three part collection, this Batman story has a unique aspect that separates it from other Batman stories. That is: Dick Grayson is Batman and Bruce Wayne's son (Damian) is Robin. I like this version of the dynamic duo. Grayson is a goof-ball at heart and it comes through when he wears the cowl. Damian is a rebellious, disrespecting brat; but he's a good fighter. Real good. Together they make an interesting team.If you're new to Batman comics, I would suggest a few other reads before diving into this one. There is a lot of backstory that leads up to how and why Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne end up together. You'll enjoy this series for what it is if you know how they got there.Here's my suggested list:Older StuffBatman: Death in the FamilyBatman: The Black CasebookBatman: Son of the DemonNewer StuffBatman: Under the Red HoodBatman: Batman and Son (New Edition)Batman: RIPFinal CrisisBatman: Battle For the CowlLike I said, there's a lot of backstory involved with Batman & Robin. This isn't even the full list. If you're up for it, you should read these books first. But I'll admit that is quite the commitment.

Batman and Robin, Vol 3: Batman & Robin Must Die include Batman and Robin #13-16, Batman the Return #, and concludes the Grant Morrison trilogy in B&R. The story here is great and I really want to love the comic, but the art makes some of this comic so hard to read. The majority of the art is done by Frazer Irving and if you have not seen any of his art search Frazer Irving Batman and see if you can stand it. If you can, read this comic. The story line is great, the villains are fantastic, the art gets better. I don't always hate Frazer Irving's art, in fact, I quite liked it for Klarion the Witch Boy in Seven Soldiers of Victory (another great comic) but in B&R I cannot stand it. At least I know that it is only a short time in the overall arc and that the story is so good that it makes it worth it. If you like Grant Morrison's Batman or don't mind the art, for sure read this.One last thing, events in this comic intersect with Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne which should be read before reading B&R #15 to avoid spoilers. I generally read Vol 1 , Vol 2, Batman: TROBW, then Vol 3. Grant Morrison's tenure writing Batman has received incredible critical reviews and based on the year end awards many considered his work the best in comics for 2010. I was a huge fan of The Black Glove and Batman R.I.P. but since then have become increasingly disenchanted. The Batman and Robin books are quite good but not as good as advertised and The Return of Batman wasn't nearly as enjoyable as I'd hoped. So here it is; the big one; the culmination of several years of storylines. To all the Grant Morrison fans who've scolded me for daring to criticize the masters works let me just say that this book is FANTASTIC! Everything comes together in one colossal, amazing book; Thomas Wayne, The Joker, Professor Pyg, the mysterious box with the Batman symbol. I enjoyed this book so much I think I'll even give the disappointing Return of Batman another chance.If Dick Grayson was permanently Batman to Damian's Robin I would have no problem with it. Grayson brings a level of depth to the character that Wayne has lost given his increasingly unfortunate perfection (of which Morrison is as guilty as any). Damian is an interesting Robin in that he will and does kill people. The real war in this book is between The Joker and Doctor Hurt (Thomas Wayne/ The Black Glove) with Grayson and young Wayne caught in the crossfire as Hurt's final plan for Gotham City unfolds. Morrison does an excellent job of writing The Joker as legitimately insane and terrifying and that's something most writers fail at. A great addition to the Batman universe, Doctor Hurt is a character I actually felt could go toe to toe with The Joker AND Batman. The revelations of Hurt are both astounding and unexpected and I won't even give a hint as to what they are. In fact a LOT of stuff happens that I won't talk about because this book is just too good to spoil.I like to think of myself as a very honest reviewer of Morrison's works. I have criticized him as much as I've praised him so if I say I love something he's produced you can be sure it's not just sycophantic slobbering. Frazier Irving gets special mention for a unique and enjoyable art style that almost rivals Frank Quitely and the art in general remains superior even as artists are switched around. The final story is separate from the main storyline but serves as a bridge to Batman Incorporated and the book finishes off with some awesome sketchbook art. My final verdict is an unequivocal five out of five stars. Pick this one up and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
