There were many features that I was unaware of and I will now be using thanks to this book. I have other Amazon devices, such as the Fire TV and the Echo, that I will seek out a Shelby Johnson guide for. Highly recommended and very helpful!

This was very difficult for me to use. I am not a"intuitive" user and so this was not good for me. Also, it was sent to me on line and I couldn't use it the same time that I was trying to use the Fire. I would prefer a book or booklet that I could refer to.

Why Amazon wouldn't ship a user's manual with the Fire is beyond me! Are we expected to try "trial-and-error"? Good manual, and it's not that expensive.

I always need more information than the "onboard" manuals usually have. This got me through the transition of confused owner to capable user.

If you want to learn about MDT and acquire some scripts to use for yourself, this book is awesome. The first half sets up your MDT infrastructure and the second creates a hyper-v image using your new infrastructure. I got through this in one day and felt like I had a good understanding of how to create and manage images with MDT.

My review title may be a bit over the top, but I truly believe that this work by Jonathan Nitzan and Shimshon Bichler is a step completely "out of the box" - a total sidestep of the academic impasse of "mainstream" vs Marxist economics and a genuinely new view on the economic and political nature of our world. I don't suggest that this is the only thing one needs to read to start to put present times into perspective, but for me it has been one of the most valuable reads in a long time.Although I'm not an economist or political scientist by profession (I'm an engineer) I was able to understand well enough from this work that neither school of economics can account correctly for how the capitalist economy actually works. However, the ability of the authors to put the current political and social state of the world into a long historical context was what made me consider this well worth the price. This they do with reference to the somewhat neglected work of Thorstein Veblen and Lewis Mumford as well as other writers not normally found in modern economics texts. On top of its solid academic and intellectual merits, this book was surprisingly entertaining to read. A funny book about economics - who would've guessed it?For those looking to understand the world and not necessarily focused strictly on changing currents in political economy and economics, I'd personally recommend David Korten's "The Great Turning - from Empire to Earth Community" and Thomas Greco's "The End of Money and the Future of Civilization" in addition to this impressive book.I apologise for only being able to review "Capital As Power" from the perspective of an "enthusiast" - now perhaps a specialist can provide a professional view. Such a major work deserves to be widely discussed and read and it was criminal for it not to be reviewed here. Out of respect for and appreciation of the authors I have done my best. Two thumbs up.

Unfortunately, most of us think that the system provides freedom when in reality "[t]he Freidmanite individual may feel 'free to choose' his location in the distribution, but the distribution itself is shaped by the power institutions and organizations of capitalism." [p.160] The sooner we all recognize that most of us are "part of a collectively managed mob," the sooner we can start to make a shift to a more sane and free system.A basic understanding of the faults of the dominant system is necessary in order to shape a world that is fair, just, and sane. This book provides that basic understanding and is highly recommended. If you can't afford the price, please search WorldCat for a nearby copy or alternatively search for the pdf of the book that the authors have made available online.

I have been fascinated with drawing and painting faces for some time. I am a completely self taught artist. By that I mean that I have not attended a class or received instruction with an actual teacher in person. I have relied heavily on online tutorials or books on this subject. I have purchased many throughout my study but never one that made this subject so clear. The way that Vladimir London breaks up the process of rendering a three quarter view of the face was the most complete and yet simple explanation that I have ever seen. His use of the universal laws that govern placement and proportion of the features and planes of the face, went beyond what I previously had learned. But what really makes this book stand out is the accompanying sketches that he does for each stepping stone in building the facial structure.Sometimes we get lucky and a light bulb may go on.....in reading "How to Draw a Portrait: The step-by-step guide", I had a whole bank of flood lights illuminating my understanding on this challenging subject. If you want to buy just one book on this subject, don't pass this one up. I really can't recommend it enough!

The portrait process is examined from start to finish. Every facet is fully explained. By following the process from beginning to end you acquire an innate familiarity with the elements of portraiture. An excellent guide for beginners and a valuable reference. The content is so well depicted by the illustrations that the text is almost irrelevant! Follow the illustrated technique and you will develop the basic skill set that every artist requires. A wonderful book! A treasure.

In this study Vladimir takes one through the technique of constructing a portrait in a manner applicable to the beginner and well as a more proficient artist, it is in fact comparable with his Drawing Course study because the explanation is lucid and easily followed. I understood every point he made and can apply the knowledge to my own work because there is a diagrammatic illustration of each procedure keeping pace with the text.I have had some little experience in drawing and found this a very acceptable, enjoyable and useful way of learning a difficult part of art.I should note that in portraiture there are a number of important details, which if not executed correctly, the finished result will not be recognisable, and in this book Vladimir highlights them and so enables the learner to avoid the serious errors that could be made.I highly recommend this book, and support its use for an audience with highly variable ability.

I'm a member of the Drawing Academy online. What I learned there is invaluable for self taught artists. Vladimir London is a talented teacher, generous with his knowledge and many supplementary materials. This book is as great, as the rest of his curricula. Drawing realistic portraits is becoming less and less daunting as I practice using his method as I understand it: draw what you know before adding what you see.

As a member of the Drawing Academy and Anatomy Master Class courses, I'm very familiar with Vladimir London's work. As a self-taught artist, I know I can trust his tuition to be professional level. If you want to learn how to draw the way the old master's did, this is the teacher to get you there.I got a lot of use out of the many step-by-step images included in this book, so I can go back and check myself as I'm going through future drawings to see what my drawings should look like at any stage of the portrait drawing process.Everything Vladimir produces is 5-star quality, and I'm happy to say that this latest book is no exception.

This description, and the splendid reviews are bogus. This is a book for amatures- perhaps people that are not able to get some kind of likeness with their model, using their intuition in the first place. I was looking for some recources that might give me some hints on general guidelines in sculpting- and the splendid reviews fooled (!) me to belive that perhaps there could be some general guidelines to get from this book. (Even if the drawingvon the front page was not that interesting). As some other reviwer explains (-that I didn' read before after having recived the book), the explanation on the - overwhelmingly!- positive reviews, are that, 'If you leave a five star review(!!) on Amazon, and send the review to the seller- you will get access to a full online video class!! And most people obviously buy in on that one, giving overwhelmingly positive reviews on this small, very elementary book- to get this access to an online video-tutorial.Which is completely bogus in my opinion. I i would give this book perhaps three stars, for the general, very simple information that it gives.. But it simply doesn't give you that much information. As I said, this 'book' is a commercial, for an 'online academy' or classes, and on the ears, for example, it gives a little bit of information- then tells about an online class (link to the page where you can buy access to a class) that will be going in debths on this subject. Perhaps these classes are informative, and educational- it's just that I will Never consider attending them, because of this completely misleading way of making one aware of their existence..(!). I feel like I have been fooled to buy this book- and I would have preferred to get my money back- and might have lost access to the book- by the highly misleading reviews- as this book is a Tool to sell a product- an online class. (!)

Being a graduate of Web Art Academy, I decided to read this book, and what a treat, educational, informative, clearly explained and demonstrated. It does not get any better. If you are an artist who loves to draw or paint portrait, this is a must read book. I strongly suggest to any one who need simple explanation on how to draw portrait should read this book.

Best step by step guide I have experienced. I have been drawing for many years and have focused on portraiture drawing in the last few years. In fact, I have been teaching a class of beginners. This is exactly what I needed to help my students and to help me get a better likeness. Thank you for making this available to us on limited incomes.

I absolutely LOVE this book! The author has great talent, not only for drawing, but also for explaining clearly how I can do those drawings, too. Her teaching method is friendly and easily understandable. She gives tons of illustrations so I'll never run out of drawings to try! While it's called "Drawing Tips for Beginners" (which definitely applies to me), I think it would also be great for more advanced students who want to brush up on techniques or get some fresh ideas. Her other books are great, too -- all with the same friendly, understandable writing style. I highly recommend ALL of them!
