This book will be used to supplement our history and literature Medieval studies in homeschooling two of our grandchildren. It will not tell you how to cool a Medieval meal, but tells the story of what goes on when a family prepares for for a feast. It's a colorful book, well illustrated, and I believe the children will enjoy reading it. In looking through it, I suspect my 7 year old grandson will be able to read it on his own with a little help on unfamiliar words, but I will probably read it to the children the first time.

Another hit by Aliki. Aliki has the gift of ushering the reader into another place and time when she writes of history long past. In "A Medieval Feast" she takes the reader into the life of a Lord as he prepares a spectacular feast for all the senses of his king.We see the gorgeous fabrics for clothing, the tents & tapestries, the hunting, the house cleaning and the cooking. We sense the air of anticipation as the king finally arrives. Then we long to taste those fanciful foods we have only just read about: the Cockentrice, trenchers, and Subtleteys. Maybe we are even tempted to use our little fingers to dispense salt on our food. It is with longing we watch the feasting.Then she ends our feast with a huge dose of reality: When the king announced he was going to visit a lord, the lord was struck with fear. To host the king meant he could quite possibly lose his entire fortune as many before him had done.This is the beauty of Aliki, she brings the magic of the past to the present but won't neglect to remind us that it's opulence had a price and consequences. And yet the magic is not broken...it still lingers in our senses like the scent of a lovely perfume.Wonderfully done!

This richly illustrated and informative book gives you glimpses of what a truly lavish royal feast in the middle ages was like. The illustrations are extremely rich with details, and the color scheme matches perfectly with the theme and the age in which the feast takes place. I learned many new terms and their relative usage. What an informative book on the customs of an age and society past!

Aliki is one of the best for educational stories for young children.

We loved pouring over the detailed illustrations that were inspired/informed by medieval tapestries. A great slice of medieval life, especially for my daughter that is not all that interested in knights/princesses/dragons. The preparations for a feast is a brilliant way to get in so much info! Loved this one.

Beautiful illustrations, and great picture book while studying medieval history, my 8 and 11 year old loved it, yet the pictures captivated my 3 year old.

I got this book for our daughter for her third grade year, for which we homeschooled her most of the year, because it was listed as a recommended supplemental reading under Common Core. It is, as others have noted, beautifully illustrated, and our daughter said that she enjoyed reading it and that there is a lot of interesting information in it. She didn't want to read it more then once, however, so it ended up in the donation pile. I'm not marking it down for that because I don't think it has to do with the quality of the book, but rather the nature of my daughter's preferred interests.

I bought this book for a lesson plan for my 5th grade students. fantastic deal!

This is our new favorite family cookbook. Every recipe I’ve made out of this has inspired family to say, “I would eat this every day.” It’s amazing. 5/5 would buy again.

The three recipes I've tried are filly to make and lack flavor. Very disappointed.

Quil Carter continues to amaze me. His mind was in overdrive in this latest book of the Fallocaust series. We get the usual cast of characters playing musical chairs, with Silas in all his bi-polar glory leading the way. My goodness his mood swings gave me whiplash. I swear “He loves me, he loves me not” was a constant mantra from him, lol. Weaving a slimy trail throughout were the horrific prions/worms oozing and slithering into every orifice imaginable. Yikes! And we get lots of sex, primal, and sometimes violent sex. HAWT I tell you. The epilogue left me puzzled and anxious in a way that I should be used to after reading this complex and most unique series. I mean, Quil Carter after all....but still. WUT?! I’m never going to give up on you Reaver & Killian/Elish & Jade. And Silas, man up and make a choice. Until the next book, I’ll be waiting.5 stars will never be enough for this series.

Another masterpiece! I've never seen a writer like Quil Carter. His world building and character development are off the chart. When you start one of his books you are transported into a world that you never want to leave. He manages to make you love characters you once hated and hate characters you once loved. I read this book so fast I know I missed a ton of important stuff. My best advice is make sure you have a free day before you start reading because you will not be able to put it down. This book took me through a complete emotional journey. Anger, shock, stress, sadness.....I really needed a personal day when I finished. I could go on and on but bottom line....this book is amazing!!! This series is totally worth you time and your money! Now I'm off to find mediocre reads that will have to occupy my time until the next book.

So ends the Fallocaust book 4, and it is AMAZING! So fast and action packed it was hard to break away and still live a normal life. If I could get paid to just read Quil Carter's books...believe me I would. It's always a great moment when a book makes you nearly sick with fear to keep reading but you do anyways because you can't stop. This book is full of those kind of great moments and when it ends you definitely won't want it to. As a whole, I think the fourth Fallocaust book has shaped up to be the best of the series so far, and that's saying so much because all the books in this series have been beyond belief. Love you Quil Carter, please write more!

SPOILER ALERTI really wanted to like this book I’ve been reading the first series of the books and been hooked on it literally finished the other books like in a week. To be honest I had to rewrite my review and do the fix it to a 5 star. In the beginning you learn to love all the characters but as you read the book more and develops into the character you realize what the hell did you just read?I liked Killian in the beginning he represented pure and sweet but as the story goes on he undergoes transformation into a different person. I didn’t like that he opened Pandora’s box when he and Reaver invited Drake into their love making session. I’ve been really trying hard to like Reaver in the beginning I did but then as it got to this point I really hate Reaver because Killian just wants Reaver to be able to rely on him as a back up and not always be a damsel in distress. But Reaver loves the part where Killian is weak and naive and never wants him to grow out of it. What annoyed me was Killian sleeping with Elish which didn’t make any sense as mad and jealous as Killian ever was with Reaver I know he would never of done it but the fact the author made Killian do it without a second regard to it makes me feel like some of the drama was unnecessary. Then we have Reaver who then sleeps with like Jade and Malachy from jealousy and rage but yet he fails to realize that he’s falling out of love with Killian because he’s becoming a different person. What broke my heart and made me cry was knowing Reaver was falling in love with Silas who in a sort of way I do feel bad for but also don’t because he’s literally the source of all pain in the book. Reaver and Killian will keep hurting one another and if just makes me so sad. I know the next book Reaver is going to end up with Silas and it’s just really sad I want Killian to be happy in a way I wish Killian would become like Silas and make another clone of Reaver or something. I just couldn’t handle this book it really messed me up couldn’t stop dreaming about different outcomes and what’s to come.I’m really annoyed with Elish at this point but I can’t help but feel compelled to feel bad for him but he also put this whole Reaver and Killian thing down the drain by sleeping with Killian but he was being controlled by the worms. I feel bad for Jade but just like Reaver he’s a hot head and doesn’t think before he acts. It broke my heart to see how my 2 favorite couples destroyed each other’s relationship all for the sake of jealousy, anger, and vengeance.You really messed me up on this one Quill Carter please release your next book soon I can’t wait to read it and see my prediction come to life. As much as I would hate to read it I can’t stop myself from wanting to know what will happen next. This series as disturbing as it is, has to be the best M/M series on amazon it’s long which is good keeps us coming back for more and gives us a dissection on characters.

BOOK ARRIVED IN POOR CONDITION WITH THE BACK UNGLUED. OTHERWISE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PHOTO ESSAY

I really liked this book, as well as Moroccan Style. I felt this book was a little more comprehensive on the styles by region of Morocco and showed more traditional design.
