I recommend this book to anyone in search of how to get started in gardening because this is easy and inexpensive!

This book has shown me the possibilities of growing my own plants even if I don't have that much space. This has introduced me to hydroponics, all about the essentials that I needed to know for my first hydroponic system. Also, this has instructions on how to construct different hydroponics systems, what kinds of plants to grow and a lot more. This has magnified my idea on the ease of doing hydroponics. Also, with the help of the illustrations in this book, reading becomes entertaining and learning is much more easier.

A nice book about hydroponics. Surprisingly I found out the one can use cheap substrates instead of expensive soil.I actually had no idea how to grow fruits, herbs, and veggies and this book gave me this knowledge. It was pretty easy to understand, and the illustrations were neat and helpful as well. You can find out lots of new things about planting, nutrient solutions, drip systems, and installation of the hydroponics system. I learned something about the various types of hydroponic systems. I am primarily interested in growing specific greens such as endives, escaroles and other lettuces and herbs. I have a small three pod aero garden now and am waiting for the Ikea hydroponic system to become available in the United States. The main complaint of the book is the poor grammar. For a small, inexpensive book it is just adequate.

I was really surprised at how much there is to hydroponics. As an organic gardener I'm always looking for new sustainable ways of growing. This book is amazingly complete, everything from supply lists, to detailed 'how to's", to even a review of 5 apps to use while growing. It's obvious the author has passion and knowledge in the subject.

In a lot of ways, Lost Stars is perhaps the perfect Star Wars book. If nothing else it's easily my favorite book in the new Star Wars canon and perhaps my favorite Star Wars book in general. As someone who grew up on the old extended universe, that's saying a lot. But I mean every word of what I've said. Lost Stars is everything I ever wanted from a Star Wars book.The author does a fantastic job of inventing her own story while fitting it seamlessly into the Star Wars narrative. She creates two interesting characters from a new, unique planet and culture. And then she takes us through their lives from the first time they meet at eight years old until the period shortly after Return of the Jedi when they are well into their twenties. They provide a refreshingly unique perspective on Star Wars, giving us insight on what it was like to be apart of the Empire when Alderaan was destroyed and how difficult it can be to balance duty with what is right. We meet new characters and old favorites in scenes that have real substance rather than coming off as merely fan service. We see the relationship between Thane Kyrell and Ciena Ree grow and evolve over years and insurmountable odds. It's Star Wars but it's more than that. It's a qhole new story that goes deeper than we have seen before on screen.I really love this book. I know that there are people out there who hesitate to read it because it's been shoe-horned into the YA genre and because it's got a heavy emphasis on Thane and Ciena's relationship. But that really shouldn't stop people from picking this book and reading it. Everyone's talking about Aftermath by Chuck Wendig but, really, this is the book we should be talking about. This is the book that deserves credit for starting the post-ROTJ canon off strong.

Don't skip it just because it's in the young adult category, or because you were disappointed by Aftermath!Even with focus on new "minor" characters, this feels like Star Wars, and it ties together important scenes, locations, and motivations. And it's fun!My only "complaint" about this book is that it hasn't been marketed as strongly as Aftermath, probably because it's been relegated to the "Young Adult" category. But there's really nothing in it (and nothing that it's missing) that should keep any not-so-young adults from reading it. It's a solid, well-written story that takes the reader through the original trilogy from the point of view of new characters, and ends up at the very beginning of the "aftermath" that will eventually lead to The Force Awakens.Thanks for the nice surprise!

In short: this is the best Star Wars book I've read in ages. Marketed as YA (though the characters are adults for most of it), it should appeal to a far broader audience. It was more about what went on Jakku than the other books released on "Force Friday," as well.Longer: When Star Wars was released in 1977, part of its appeal was that you knew who to cheer for and who to boo. After years of movies dominated by ambiguity and flawed heroes, this update of a silent melodrama seemed positively refreshing. But nothing's ever that black and white - there were (assuming for a moment that these characters were "real") human stories behind every TIE fighter that blew up. Not all of the billions of Imperials who didn't manage to jump ship and join the rebels were evil. Some were caught up in something that they misunderstood, that give them no choice, that lied to them.LOST STARS begins with two characters drawn to the new Empire and all of its promises as children. The "Romeo and Juliet" comparisons people toss around are overstating things; their familiars aren't wild about their friendship, but it's a very minor issue in the overall book. As one quickly becomes cynical to the Empire and one tries to stay loyal, the two journey through the Star War trilogy (and a year or two beyond) on the fringes in sort of the same way that Forrest Gump journeyed through 20th century American history (or perhaps the way Phineas and Ferb journeyed through the periphery of " New Hope.)" But the references to stray lines and events in the original films never feel forced - the characters' stories are brilliantly and organically woven into the saga. You understand the different choices they make, the risks they take, and what's going on in their head even when you disagree with them. The romance between them (which lurks in the background most of the time) feels far more realistic than most of the romance in Star Wars books. Without delving into spoilers, by the end of the book their relationship seems well-worn and lived in that's sort of rare in fiction (it's a common joke in the YA world that the last line of every book should be "and then they probably broke up six months later.") These are interesting characters with backgrounds and stories of their own, and their relationship is complicated, just like real relationships are.And all of this, throughout the politics and the relationships and cameos from better-known characters, manages to be great fun. The 500+ pages went by quickly. Honestly, I sometimes think Star Wars just does't translate to books very well - without the visuals and the score, some of the impact is gone, and sometimes I feel like I'm just reading a lot of tech talk and sound effects. Often I just skip around and read the main plot points to see what's going on in the galaxy at this point in the timeline. That was never an issue here. I just wished there were more of it.This book may get lost in the shuffle; it's being marketing to an audience (YA) that's narrowed considerably since the Harry Potter era, when there was more crossover with people who normally read from the adult section. But when the dust settles and we've had time to sift through all the new Star Wars material that's come with the Force Friday deluge, Lost Stars will stand up as a high point.In the interest of full disclosure, I am a YA writer myself and I do know the author. If you want to brush off my thoughts because of that, fine. And I can sympathize with those who mourn the loss of the expanded universe books from the last 25 odd years - I can remember long days of debates with my friends about what might happen in the third Zahn book when it came out. But I like season 1 of "Rebels" more than I liked pretty much any new Star Wars stuff that had come out since 1983, and Lost Stars joins my list of reasons to think the new canon will be worth it. Give it a shot and enjoy the ride. I can even entertain a hope that it could get more people to check out the YA section again and see if there's anything else good in there...

I bough this book after reading all the positive review. I am not sure if I have read the same book that other reviewers have read. Take Chapter 9, face detection for example, it has two pages of info. But there are no steps on how to program face detection and only general info on opencv and raspi-config to enable the camera. There is no source code listing for face detection at all.Other topics are covered very superficially that you can get more from free mag magazine.This is first review after buying hundred of books on Amazon. Skip this one!

I have read three starter books for raspberry PI. This one was the most informative with the operating systems and configurations as well as good clear step by step instructions for all sections

Some projects to look forward to for noobs like me. The ideas are cool and anyone can do them. It takes time though to master. I would suggest reading advance projects to enhance your own learning until you can devise a project of your own. I got used to the cross-compilation and the client-side scripting codes. Let's me build a smart TV in the end. The face detection idea is cool. There's more to it though. I didn't know I can install Kodi on it until I read about it. It's cool! It needs further details though. Would want to see more details on each project.

All I ever wanted in life was to be a mommy. It was my dream since I was a little girl. But I was recently given the most devastating news that I may never be able to have children. The news threw me into a deep depression and I've been struggling to cope with the grief. Then by pure coincidence I had Dr. Oz on in the background when this book was featured. Her story really inspired me. I had to get this book. The book is so beautiful, both visually and lyrically. We are fostering to adopt 4 and 5 year olds and it is so incredibly hard to find books that we can read to them to that speak about how they came to us in a general but big picture way. Many books are specifically about infants or overtly from a mom's point of view but this one is so simple and so general yet poignant. It came yesterday and I can't wait to read it to the boys!

This uncomplicated and simply stated book is beyond precious in every way.As a mom; and now as a new first time grandma too, it’s a sweet and loving sentiment from any caregiver adult / parent to any child.It completely resonates with my life concerning so many of my own deep and personal experiences.It’s going to be a gift to my daughter (single mom) for Mother’s Day; from her baby son (and me).Thanks, and well done Hoda and Suzie.;o) <3 !Blessings always.

Cute one line per page story with beautiful illustrations however with only a few words per page, it just doesn’t have enough story for my 6 yr old to want to hear more than once.

I cry every time I read this. I am an adoptive mother of a son and about to be a mother-in-law. This book also applies to having loved her since forever also. This book is a great gift for anyone you love. Also, Kelly Clarkson's song that goes with it will touch your heart.

Sweet book. Bought for my daughter-in-law to read to my Granddaughter. She's not adopted, but took a long time coming! I would highly recommend. Some complain that there's not a lot of words, and there aren't. Just enough to make you want to cry!

Two stars. Three or four stars for content, zero for physical construction.This so-called field guide fell apart the instant I touched it. The cover completely detached from the glued spine, the pages cracked open in dead center, and the book is now in two pieces that are barely held together. Seriously, Adventure Publications? I expect a field guide to be sturdy enough to use (surprise) in the field, which to me means being jostled in a backpack, stuffed in a pocket, and not treated as a breakable object. This one couldn't stand up to being gently opened even once. I do not trust the construction enough to order a replacement. Zero stars here.That said, if the book were well-made, I probably would have kept it. The small size is great for a field guide, and I think the descriptions and most photos would be helfpful in identifying species I do not know already. The photography is decent overall, but some photos are out of focus or taken in light conditions that washed out flower colors so they do not appear true-to-life. I have seen and taken many amateur photos of much higher quality. I do appreciate guides that are organized by flower color, and I give this one high marks for that.There are many excellent field guides to Texas wildflowers. I have carried some of them all over Texas for 15-20 years, but it's hard to resist new offerings. I suggest you consider a different choice.

While this guide is far from all-inclusive (Texas has a lot of wildflowers), it seems to cover the most common and frequently seen ones. I appreciate the fact that it is organized by color. The whole point of a field guide is to enable identification, and guides that are organized by botanical family make the process considerably more difficult. If I know the family, I don't need the guide. The photographs are large enough to show some detail of the leaves and stems, which also is helpful. For anyone who enjoys our state's wildflowers and is curious about what he or she is seeing, this little book can be very helpful.

I have most of the Texas wildflower books and really like this one. Small enough to take along on trips, nice quick reference, and it has most of the wildflowers in and around the state, including some non-natives which grow wild here and there. The flowers are in color groups which makes it easy to find what I'm looking for. Very pleased with it!

Love the classification by color and the large pictures. This is an easy to use field guide I use along with Loughmiller's Texas Wildflowers & more often than not I find exactly what I was looking for.

I have no problem with the content of the book. It is well organized. However the binding of the paperback book is so poor that the book will be in tatters as the pages loosen and fall apart. I would not buy the paperback.
