I purchased this book on Kindle which was available 3 weeks or so earlier (end of September 2017) than it release date (October 2017). During my AWS SA architect exam, I used official guide as one of the resource and it was very useful, especially, flashcard and online tests. This book not only focus on certification but also provide more useful views. Certain places, I felt reading documents could be more useful though. I am appearing in the SysOps Exam hence spare one start. After Exam, I will revisit to update my review. But, I would definitely suggest to buy and go over before exam for anyone as of now (Oct 2017).Updated on Nov 4th, 2017 ---with my AWS SysOps Exam and hence I thought to update my review as I promised.As I mentioned earlier regarding AWS SA Certified exam guide, I would suggest everyone preparing for the exam to buy this book at least to practice for its companion online test bank and flash card for last day review. I literally found several of questions from test bank appeared in my exam while few more were closely resembling. While I read almost entire book even though it is too much descriptive and often difficult than AWS document, but at the end of Summary section, quick tips and exercise are very useful resources. And Assessment test at the beginning of the book and 2 online-only tests are great way to gain confident before facing a real exam. I also believe at the end of chapter exercises would definitely useful for someone preparing for Developer Exam as most of them are command line based instruction instead of console based. I believe author may have intentionally developed all this exercise to help from developer perspective. With so many video based training makes learning easy, but books always helps to fill gaps.Overall, I would recommend anyone to buy this book who is preparing for exam.It is money well spent. And also changing from 4 to 5 start.

On September 24th, 2018 the SysOps Associate exam changed. Much of what is in this book is still relevant. However, after taking the Beta SysOps Associate training at AWS in Herndon, VA, I found much of the newer material was not in this book. Because the scoring of the various domains on the exam have changed, I would recommend on waiting for a 2nd Edition to be released. Also, the flashcards and practice exams are nice but be prepared for more questions requiring multiple answers. I found most of the practice questions to be centered around just one answer.

This book ranks among the best technical books I have read. It ‘tics the boxes’ for having the appropriate content (scope of the book matches that of the exam) and level of detail, but what makes this book ‘great’ is the context and reference to operational best practices. For those with an ITIL or similar background the book will be especially rewarding as the AWS services and their operation are explained in a way that aligns with industry standard operational best practices.For me, this made the book more accessible – this is a book you can sit down and read. That said, the material is dense - read this (if possible) a chapter per sitting, when you are fresh, and take some time to think over what you read. I spent quite some time thinking ‘so how would this apply to a large scale production system’. Also spend time on the ‘Exam Essentials’ at the end of each chapter they are ‘gold’.Another reviewer mentioned ‘poorly formatted’. I completely disagree. The book is formatted the same as the SA Cert prep book – chapter, then exam essentials, hands on exercises, and a set of ~20 questions that are chapter specific. I found it easy to jump back to the appropriate section if I missed a question in the chapter quiz. I also found the order in which the authors presented topics to be well thought out, which also helped with ‘readability’.I received the book late in my prep for the exam, and delayed sitting for the exam as a result. I did have a concern that the book and my previous study materials would not align, but this was not the case. The book is ordered differently than the ACG online course, and in most cases the book provides more context and examples. I found a combination of the online course and the book very effective in helping me retain both concepts and facts (and you need both to pass this exam).My path to certification included this book, the A Cloud Guru SysOps online Cert course, and two different ‘practice exam’ products, (one from Whizlabs and one from BrainCert.The book mentions using practice tests as a study aid, and I am a proponent. I took every practice test available, then went back to review the wrong answers on every practice test 3-4 times over the course of several weeks to understand why the right answer was the right answer. This often led to reviewing the AWS documentation on a specific subject.

I received this book on Nov. 11th and took my test on Dec 22nd and passed. The book is very thorough, however, the practice tests and flash cards are where this product really shines. I felt very prepared to take the test after doing well on the practice exams.I will say, i read this book cover to cover once, a few chapters multiple times, and took the practice tests and quizzes multiple times. I also watched the CBT Nuggets video series however i would not recommend it as it only gave a very high level overview.If you read this book, take the chapter end quizzes, do the exercises, and the practice quizzes/flash cards you should do well on the exam.

I have taken several certification tests over the past years and have come to rely on Sybex books to be a generally safe reference. This book covered the material in the test to the point that I was able to pass the exam on the first sitting. Overall it was generally well structured with the exception of the database and deployment chapters these were a confusing conglomeration of general facts with very little clarity on what it was they were describing that really need to be re-edited. The exercises for the database and deployment operations had download locations referenced that are no longer accessible to the public, or were extremely vague, (load your app). In summary, it is a solid reference for the test however, if you are using it as a reference for DB operations or understanding all the deployment tools, lower your expectations.

For many years after my return from Vietnam, I searched for a way and a means to try and restore my peace and my sanity. Something that could help me make sense of what I had just experienced. I went down many paths, self destruction and denial being the longest running. I made attempts at finding answers through many means, none of them were right and I knew it in my heart. i struggled with depression, self-medication and a feeling that something needed to be right in my soul, i thought that i had lost a piece of myself. One day I entered a public library not knowing what I was really looking for, no real purpose in mind. As I walked the aisles my eyes locked on a book with concentric blue circles. I can only say that I was drawn to it, I knew instinctively there was something important about it. I opened it randomly and settled on a paragraph from a paper and began to read. Immediately and without a doubt I knew I was reading truth. Its hard to describe the feeling that went thru me, It was like slowly dying from thirst and suddenly being saved by a clear cool spring. I read no more than that first paragraph and immediately went to the counter and checked it out. When I arrived home, I opened it and began to read, what I found was so profound and so intense I realized there was no way I could ever complete this book in the normal 2 week check out time.. I then went to the contact information, called the foundation and ordered my own copy. I believed I needed to start at the beginning which I did and read every written word. I have fairly rapid reading skills yet I could not read more than a few paragraphs at a time without falling asleep totally exhausted by the effort. It took me one year to finish the book reading it nearly every day. Almost all of what I read seemed nearly incomprehensible to me at the time but I knew instinctively that it was truth. By the time I had finished it I realized I had read the most profound book of my life ... and yet I felt as if I had hardly absorbed it at best. I immediately went back to the beginning and began reading it all over again, the second time it took approximately 6 months to complete, I began to understand more and more as time and pages went by. That was many years ago now and I read a paper or a portion of one from the website every day. The reading of the Urantia Book is a life journey, to become a part of your everyday existence. I think of portions of it at all hours of the day, often times as I wake each morning. To say it changed my life would be an understatement. Some of you will find it to be the same.

This book took me over two years to read. The 1st thousand pages required a lot of concentration in order to understand the complexity of the content of God and the universe. I read many books in the meantime. I would read a Paper (chapter), or part of one, and have something else to turn to (The Nightingale, All the Light We Cannot See, La mano de Fatima, La Catedral del mar, Dime quien soy, The Physician, among others). All in all, the entire book was a fascinating learning experience, a journey of discovering so much that I had never imagined the possibility of existing. It has made everything that I did know about history and religion so much clearer, and it explained things that never made sense to me. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has read it and I wish one of my friends or colleagues would so that I could discuss it with someone. It was the learning experience of a lifetime, and has profoundly changed me. I will always be grateful to the person who recommended it to me, one of my students who died last year at the age of 25, who I know is on his journey to perfect himself, even as God is perfect.

This Book is the most profound compilation of wisdom and truth that one could ever read. It brings together truth from all across the world and it's major religions throughout our worlds entire history. Its basically an encyclopedia for truth and spiritual wisdom. But even then it's so much more. You could read and re-read it for an entire life and still be only at the beginning of what it offers. What it offers is living truth. The entire book is about universe reality (love) and how we can grow and become empowered in and through it. It is a journey into the endless river of truth, beauty and goodness. A journey that once begun, words begin to fail for descriptive purposes of just what this book really is, as it is so much more than just a book. It answers pretty much any and every question one could ever think of. If questions such as, who are we? how old is the world? why are we here? where are we going after this life? who were Adam and Eve really? did we evolve from animals? whats the purpose/meaning/value of life? ever crossed your mind then this book should be on your must read list. If you believe in Jesus and wanted to discover more about Him, His loving and merciful nature and wonderful plans for you, this book is definitely for you. Even if you don't but are spiritual and or seeking truth, you wont find a more enlightening manuscript anywhere. It supports no particular religion but shows us how to find and draw out the truth, beauty and goodness within them all and encourages each of us to develop a personal relationship (religion) with the indwelling spirit fragment of God living and loving within each and every one of us. It's nickname is the "Truth Book" and for very good reason. The tough part for many is the faith it takes to believe it really is a "Revelation" written by the Angels above us. I have read it and am wholeheartedly convinced it was. It either was or wasn't but if there is supposedly a book on earth written by angels wouldn't you want to read it for yourself and be the judge? Trust me there is no way a human being could write like this and you will feel that inside of you after reading just one page if not one paragraph?! Over one million words and not a single contradiction or inconsistency. It doesn't exclude -it includes, all of us, as we are all children of the same God-Father-Creator and we may call Him whatever we wish, He loves us all and has never revealed Himself by name only nature. If you are on a spiritual journey and wish to discover more of the true and loving nature of God, I encourage you with all my heart take the chance and the time and you will be forever grateful.....May God bless you in all your strivings!

I loved this book honestly. It was super helpful in my degree and helped me learn a lot. I like the way the book is set up, which makes it easy to read and understand. But it didn't come in the condition it said it was. I bought it used which you can expect maybe a little wear because someone else used it but the seller said it was in perfect condition or like new. It was definitely far from. It was usable but the pages were super bent. It had writing in it all over, and a lot was highlighted. I would have preferred they said what it actually was like. I wanted to return it because it was frustrating to me that they lied but i needed it for school so i couldn't without missing homework.

Just what I needed for my class. Most of the content to me is common sense information, however these days common sense isn't so common. The lay out of the content is well thought out and easy to follow me

Fast shipping, good quality. There’s some wear on it, but nothing that affects it’s readability. Nice price, my college wanted a lot of money for this so I checked here and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Instead of buying something you’re only going to use once, why not rent it?
